Virgil Eugene Scott, 74, of Wheelersburg, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Huntington, WV. 

He was born June 23, 1936, in Minford, Ohio to the late Rev. Thomas Gaylord Scott and Norma May Scott.

 He was a 1954 graduate of Minford High School, an U.S. Army veteran and a retired member of International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators Local 80 in Winfield, WV.

Virgil is survived by one son, Gregory (Beverly) Thompson of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Gayle "Junior" (Joan) Scott of Sanibel Island, FL, and David (Dorothy) Scott of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Lelia (Robert - deceased) Gilmore of Wheelersburg and Ella (John) Coburn of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Olivia (Adam) Riggs and Oliver Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tryston and Luke; one sister-in-law, Rosemary Scott of Miamisburg, OH; seven nephews; and five nieces. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Scott. 

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Pastor Bradley Brandt.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the services on Wednesday.  Military graveside services will be conducted by James Dickey Post No.23 American Legion.
