Walden (Wally) Lambert, 71, of Beaver, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Heartland of
Portsmouth.
Born Dec. 21, 1940, in Floyd County, Ky., a son of the late Edward Ellis and Mary Elizabeth Elliott Lambert, he was a U.S. Postal Service Clerk, was a Command Sergeant Major in the U.S.
Army and retired with 25 years of service, and was a member of Elm Grove Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edna Moore Lambert; two sons, Mark Lambert of Stockdale, Charles (Angie) Lambert of Garrison, Ky.; one daughter, Karen (Greg) Shumway of Minford; five grandchildren, Josh Lambert, Garrett Lambert, Rachael Shumway, Sarah Shumway, Mary Lambert, Damon Lambert, Olivia Lambert; three great grandchildren, Christopher Lambert, Ayden Lambert, Joel Lambert; two brothers, Claude (Ann) L. Lambert of Columbus, Donald Ray (Charlotte) Lambert of Minford; and one sister, Kansas Kay (Loval) Gilliam of Lincoln Park, Mich.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Walden Enos Lambert; one granddaughter, Alison Marie Shumway; four brothers, Charles Lambert in infancy, Moscow Lambert, Marvin Lambert, James Lambert; and two sisters, Opal Strickney and Hazel Brafford.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.
Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Darrell Pinkerton, minister officiating. Burial will be at Stockdale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion, P.O. Box 2, Minford, Ohio 45653.
