Ella Scott Coburn
April 9, 1929 - January 4, 2021

MINFORD - Ella Rose Coburn, 91, of Minford passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at Hill View Retirement Center in Portsmouth. Born April 9, 1929 in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Rev. Thomas Gaylen and Norma May Scott, she was a 1947 graduate of Minford High School, and a Ladies Tennis U.S.T.A. member. Ella was a former employee of Minford Local Schools, Goodyear Atomic Plant and was a member of Harrison Free Will Baptist Church for over fifty years and was a charter member of Charity Free Will Baptist church.

She is survived by one son, Tony Coburn of Minford, two daughters, Donna Jo (Bill) Bayless of Jamestown, Kentucky, Karen Lea (Larry) Simpson of Englewood, Florida; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and one brother, David G. Scott of Wheelersburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Coburn on October 5, 2017 whom she married March 5, 1949; three brothers, James Scott, Virgil Scott, Gayle Scott, one sister, Lelia M. Gilmore, one grandson, William Scott Bayless, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Coburn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Bud Mefford officiating. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Per CDC guidelines and governor recommendations, everyone is asked to wear a mask and practice proper social distancing procedures and guidelines.
