Richard “Jock” Scott Foster, 82, of Wheelersburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at SOMC Hospice.
Born Dec. 14, 1929, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Clinton and Inez Allen Foster, he was a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1947, was former President of Sunshine PTA, Minford Little League, and Minford Athletic Boosters. He was co-owner of Foster & Fankell Service Center in Minford, carpenter/construction worker for Marion Russell and A-Plant, was a Korean War Army veteran where he served as a medic, and was a member of Union Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Kemper Foster; two sons, Scott (Ana) Foster of Roanoke, Va., Larry (Catherine) Foster of Roanoke, Va.; three daughters, Connie Sue Dyer of Wheelersburg, Trisha (Mark) Percell of Piketon, Melissa Foster of Wheelersburg; five grandchildren, Rachael (Jason) Ramsey of Piketon, Lynnsey (Mike) Harris of Salem, Va., David Foster of Salem Va., Kaile (Ben) Weaver of Roanoke, Va., Kemper Scott Foster of Roanoke, VA; six great grandchildren, Jaxson Poe, Lilly Ramsey, Hadley Ramsey, Reagan Harris, Grayson Harris, Brogan Weaver; two brothers, Joe Foster of Hurricane, WV, Clifford Foster of Columbus, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter R. Foster, James Foster, David Foster, Howard “Dee” Foster, and a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Foster.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
