History of Track at MHS
It is unknown when the first track teams were organized, but the first written record that could be located was mentioned in The Portsmouth Times, May 9, 1931, p. 14:
Wheelersburg Trims Minford - Track Meet Held Friday Afternoon Furnished Plenty of Thrills
Scoring 165 points to their opponents' 74, Wheelersburg High school defeated Minford High school in their annual track meet held Friday afternoon on Wheelersburg school.

The First Track Meet at Minford
The Portsmouth Times, May 7, 1932, p. 7:
Wheelersburg Bests Minford - Track and Field Meet Held Between Boys and Girls Teams
The Wheelersburg and Minford High School track and field teams clashed this week and Wheelersburg emerged the victor, 157 to 83.
This was the first meet ever held at Minford and there was much interest and enthusiasm in the various events.

The high scores of the boys' meet were Wellman, 22; R. Wellman, 17, both of Wheelersburg. Parks of Minford scores 14 points.
In the girls' events, Ova Montgomery of Minford scored 17 points; Vaughters 11, and Smith 11 both of Wheelersburg.
