Vernon E. Reese, 81, of Tick Ridge Road in Wheelersburg, died at his residence Jan. 29, 2008, after a long illness.
He was born March 28, 1926, to the late Ernest and Verda Rose Reese of Tick Ridge Road. He was a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1943. He worked as a farmer, and retired from Phoenix Pie Company after 25 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Cora Miller Reese, of 60 years. He leaves a daughter, Karen (Les) Dawson, and a son Carl (Kathy) Reese, all of Wheelersburg; four grandchildren, Shawnessy Reese, Steve Reese and Matthew Dawson, all of Wheelersburg, and Jeffrey Dawson of Pensacola, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Reese.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with the Rev. Rick Arthur officiating. Burial will be in Pyle Cemetery in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and one hour before the service Friday.
