The Minford Local School District provides Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as a required class to all students grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Every homeroom, grades K - 5th, attends SEL class for 45 minutes a week as an activity, just as they attend gym, music and library every week. The SEL class implements research based strategies utilizing children’s literature, explicit instruction and play to cover topics such as:
Minford’s SEL program follows the Ohio Standards for Social and Emotional Learning that you can find in the link below.
In addition, SEL is embedded into our curriculum for grades K - 12 and all of our staff members have been trained in Trauma Informed Care. As you can see, the Minford Local School District puts a high priority on our students’ mental health.

The mission of Kindness Week is to create a community and culture of change by empowering our youth to take an active role in making an impact on the world through kindness! The entire community is involved!
